Why I Love the New AWeber: Tagging, Advanced Automations and More

Why I Love AWeber

Total transparency: We’re proud to be affiliated with the companies we use and recommend and may receive compensation for doing so.

When I started marketing over 10 years ago (has it been that long already?), AWeber was really the only game in town. Every “guru” recommended it and it’s what I started with for email marketing and it’s one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made in my business.

AWeber is still my best ROI investment.

And even though lots of different email service providers have popped up since then, I’ve always stuck with AWeber, because their interface is really easy to use and their customer service has always been awesome with US-based reps you can actually talk to on the phone.

But… over the years many competitors have entered the game and have introduced new email marketing and automation tools and technology. It seems like every week the “email marketing experts” were recommending a new tool with a cool new feature that nobody else had.

The reality is in business competition isn’t a bad thing, it forces companies to compete up their game.

And AWeber has responded in full force, rolling out new services that don’t just look good, but are actually functional and can take your marketing to an entirely new level. Some might call them AWeber 2.0!

Subscriber tagging, behavior-based automation and segmentation, multi-site management within one account… the list goes on and on.

Here are a few of the features that I absolutely love when it comes to using AWeber for email marketing:

Click Automations

This one of the newer features in the AWeber platform. And it’s an amazingly powerful feature that can really push your email marketing to a whole new level.

In your business, you can use this feature to segment people based on what they’re interested in.

For example, in our business, we serve coaches, consultants, experts, and other professionals who want to get their message out to a broader audience.

But not everybody needs (or wants) the same exact information at the exact same time.

Some people are at the point in their business when they want information on how to take advantage of paid traffic, while others might be interested in how to get the most out of their email lists.

Click automations allows us to easily segment people based on their interests and deliver automated follow-ups that are extremely specific to what that individual is looking for.

This level of personalization allows us to make a lot more money per person on our list.

For example, we may send out an email to our list that has a specific goal of finding out if people are interested in understanding how to use video on Facebook. And in that email, we’ll include a link that goes to a more detailed blog post on Facebook video advertising.

When the subscriber clicks on that link they will be tagged with “Facebook video advertising”, and then we can send them a sequence or broadcast with more specifics about that topic.

This is incredibly powerful because if you can reach people were they’re at, at the exact time that they’re ready for the information, you’re MUCH more likely to get great conversion rates. We all like great conversion rates because that’s where the money is made.

But that’s not the only feature we love.  You can boost the power of this click automation feature with another amazing feature that AWeber recently rolled out – audience surveys.

Audience Surveys from Directly Inside Your Emails!

Audience surveys have been around for quite some time. But until recently you had to send somebody outside of the email platform to make an audience survey work. While we still send people out of email to do longer surveys, sometimes we have a simple survey question that we want to get answered or just want feedback on what our customers like.

This type of survey is especially powerful for subscribers who open their email on their phones.

For simple surveys and customer feedback results, this new AWeber feature lets you do surveys inside your email and is an amazing way to gain leverage.

The surveys are all done through simple widgets that are dead easy to set up can help you gather amazing data from your customers.

Here’s an example:

AWeber audience surveysWith this widget, you can ask the customer what they think of an email, or you can ask them to grade their response on a scale of 1 to 5, or you can change the question to whatever you see fit.

All your subscriber has to do is click the image or number in the email to respond to the survey.

This survey widget can give you incredible data in and of itself, but when you combine it with click automations you’ll be amazed at what you can do.

How These Two Amazing Features Work Together to Help You Create Killer Campaigns

Here’s where the magic really happens.

When you combine click automations with in-email surveys, you can create incredibly powerful email campaigns that are extraordinarily tailored to the people that you’re marketing to.

Let’s take a look at how this works.

In our business, we work with both beginners and advanced business owners. And these groups of people need different messages at different times.

If we blast our whole list with the same message, then we lose readership. Losing readership means losing conversions.

But if we use surveys to find out where people are at and what they think, then we can tailor messages exactly to them automatically using the power of click automation.

One of the common issues that our customers face is burnout. Often, they’re exhausted from all the “hustle and grind” that sometimes is the daily life of an entrepreneur.

So, we can devise a survey question to find out how much burnout they are actually experiencing and what kind of relief they’re looking for.

In this case, the survey question might be included in an email on remedies for burnout and say something like “yes, Brian, I deal with burnout in my business” and have a thumbs up or down image.

We can then include a click automation in this email, so if they give us a thumbs up on dealing with burnout, then it automatically sends a new series of emails to them that shows some steps on how to automate parts of their business in order to alleviate the burnout they’re dealing with.

It’s incredibly powerful.

By combining these two functions, we create super-targeted autoresponders that allow our customers to move through our sales process in a way that feels incredibly personalized to them.

And honestly, this is just scratching the surface of what AWeber has to offer. You can see all of the latest features and benefits AWeber has to offer right here.

If you want to get great ROI in your business, then mastering email marketing is one of the best ways to do it. And AWeber is my tool of choice for over 10 years and counting.
